Roblox Launches Build AI Tool for Mobile Game Creation

Roblox Corporation is launching Build, a mobile-first generative AI tool integrated into the Roblox app that enables users to create games and characters using text prompts. The tool combines proprietary and open-source AI models to generate gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visual styles, and sound. Designed to integrate with Roblox Studio, Build allows creators to initiate projects on mobile devices and later refine them on desktop.

A public alpha for select features, including game publishing, begins July 28 for age-verified users aged nine and older in New Zealand. Games that pass safety checks will be available globally to users 16 and older. Roblox will provide a free base version of the tool alongside paid options for advanced power users.

Alongside Build, the company will release agentic AI tools on July 28 to assist professional creators with bug testing, performance analytics, and experiment optimization. To address concerns regarding a potential influx of low-quality "AI slop," Roblox stated that its discovery systems will continue to prioritize and rank games based on long-term player retention.
