Apple iPhone Shipments in India Projected to Decline

Market researchers project that Apple Inc. will record its first annual decline in iPhone shipments in India after several years of consistent growth. Data from the International Data Corporation and Counterpoint Research indicate a shipment dip caused by supply constraints for the iPhone 15, 16, and 17 series, as well as a delayed launch cycle for the iPhone 18. Omdia specifically noted supply shortages for certain iPhone 17 variants.

Consumer affordability has further pressured sales, as a reduction in exchange offers and financing schemes has increased the effective cost of devices. These factors led Counterpoint Research to lower its full-year shipment forecast from high single-digit growth to early single digits, while the International Data Corporation expects a mid-single-digit percentage decline.

Despite the shipment slowdown, Apple achieved record revenue in India during the June quarter. Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook described India as one of the company's fastest-growing markets. The company is also expanding its broader ecosystem in the region, with Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh noting record performance for the Mac business, driven specifically by the MacBook Neo and MacBook Pro.
