Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye Sign Makkah Defense Pact

The Government of Pakistan, the Government of Saudi Arabia, and the Government of Türkiye have signed the Makkah Joint Defense Agreement, establishing a framework for coordinated defense cooperation. Pakistani officials described the pact as a historic milestone for the three nations and the Muslim Ummah, sparking nationwide celebrations in Pakistan.
While some analysts view the agreement as lacking clear military obligations, Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Asif characterized the alliance as a united military front. Asif specifically identified India and Israel as enemies and called for Muslim countries to unite against the threat posed by Israel.
The Ministry of External Affairs of India is currently examining the implications of the pact. During a briefing on August 11, the ministry stated it is evaluating the agreement from the perspective of national security and regional stability, asserting that India will take all necessary measures to safeguard its national interests.
