Trader Joe's Announces 30 New Stores Across 16 States

Trader Joe's is expanding its national footprint with 30 new locations, including upcoming openings in California, Utah, and Michigan.

Trader Joe's is expanding its national footprint by adding 30 new store locations across 16 states. The Monrovia-based grocery chain scheduled two of these openings for this week: a store in Anaheim Hills, California, opening October 22, and another in West Jordan, Utah, opening October 23.

The Anaheim Hills location, the company's 295th store, occupies a 9,769-square-foot former Big Lots site at 6336 E. Santa Ana Canyon Road. This opening is part of a larger push in Orange County, which includes recent or planned activity in Costa Mesa, Orange, and Laguna Niguel. Other regional competitors are also expanding, with Erewhon and T&T Supermarkets planning entries into the area by 2027.

In Michigan, the company is opening a store at the Merchants Marketplace Shopping Center in Farmington Hills, marking its 10th location in the state. Additional new stores are slated for Oregon, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, and Washington. In Nebraska, a second Omaha-area store will open on North 191st Street in Elkhorn.

Despite the growth, the company continues to exclude South Dakota from its operations. South Dakota remains one of eight states without a location, leaving residents of Sioux Falls without a local store.
