ABVP Wins Three Major Posts in DUSU Elections

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) won three of the four central panel posts in the 2026-27 Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections. ABVP candidate Yash Dabas secured the presidency with 24,576 votes, defeating National Students' Union of India (NSUI) candidate Vijay Shankar Meena. Riya Chhawdi and Lakshya Raj Singh won the Secretary and Joint Secretary positions, respectively.

Independent candidate Deepanshu Shokeen, who contested after being denied an NSUI ticket, won the Vice President post with over 30,600 votes. The NSUI failed to secure any central panel posts. Voter turnout reached 40.46%, a three-year high, amid campaigns focused on student safety and a fatal PG building collapse in Satya Niketan.

Following the results, NSUI National President Vinod Jakhar and candidate Vijay Shankar Meena alleged rigging, bogus voting, and administrative tampering. Conversely, ABVP's Yash Dabas described the win as a rejection of a fake narrative and a defeat for Rahul Gandhi. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju called the result a symbolic referendum on the voice of the youth.

BJP leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, congratulated the ABVP, stating the victory reflects the youth's faith in the Nation First policy and the vision of a Viksit Bharat.
