Israel Conducts Airstrikes in Southern Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces conducted airstrikes between the towns of Mayfadoun and Zawtar al-Sharqiya in southern Lebanon on September 28. There were no immediate reports regarding casualties or the extent of the damage resulting from the operation.

These strikes occurred despite a ceasefire framework agreement signed in Washington, DC, in June. The agreement, brokered by the United States, established a path toward peace requiring Israeli forces to gradually withdraw from Lebanon. In exchange, the Lebanese army must deploy in the region, provided that Hezbollah is disarmed.
