Advocate Ratna Singh Seeks FIR Against Delhi Police
Ratna Singh filed a court application seeking an FIR against police personnel for allegedly confining her to prevent her from protesting at the Supreme Court.
Legal affairs head of the Campaign for Judicial Parity Ratna Singh filed an application in the Saket District Court on October 10, 2026, seeking the registration of a First Information Report against police personnel. Singh, a practicing advocate, alleges that officers wrongfully confined and restrained her to prevent her from attending a protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar at the Supreme Court.
According to the plea, police vehicles blocked Singh's car from both the front and rear while she was traveling with fellow advocate Tara Narula. Singh claims that the officers failed to provide a legal basis for the restriction of her movement.
The application, filed before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Abhinav Pandey, requests a status report from the police and judicial intervention regarding Singh's liberty and safety.
