Patria and General Cherry Partner for Finnish Drone Production

Patria and General Cherry signed a letter of intent to jointly develop unmanned vehicles and establish drone production facilities in Finland.

Finnish defense company Patria and Ukrainian drone manufacturer General Cherry signed a letter of intent on Sunday to jointly develop unmanned vehicles and establish drone production in Finland. The partnership aims to meet Western European defense needs by combining General Cherry's battlefield experience with Patria's industrial capabilities.

General Cherry currently produces one-way FPV strike drones and interceptors used by more than 200 military units within the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The collaboration focuses on integrating this operational expertise with Patria's existing unmanned-technology infrastructure to accelerate the development of defense systems.

This agreement follows a broader trend of European defense-industrial cooperation with Ukraine, mirroring similar initiatives recently established in the United Kingdom and Germany. Mikko Leino of Patria stated that the partnership reinforces the company's expertise in drone development, while Stanislav Hryshyn of General Cherry noted that the combination of their respective strengths could help transform global security architecture.
