ElevenLabs Invests Millions to Expand Voice AI in India
ElevenLabs is investing hundreds of millions of dollars to expand its voice AI services across all 22 official Indian languages and establish a local office.
Voice AI company ElevenLabs announced a major expansion into India during its first India Summit in Bengaluru on October 6, 2026. The company, currently valued at $22 billion, plans to invest hundreds of millions of dollars to hire local teams, develop AI models for Indian languages, and potentially pursue acquisitions. India has become the company's second-largest market after the United States.
ElevenLabs will expand its speech-to-text and text-to-speech services from 14 to all 22 official Indian languages within the next year and intends to open a local office by the end of 2026. To support more than 250 existing enterprise clients, including Razorpay, TVS Motor, Physicswallah, and Havells, the company is increasing its forward-deployed engineering team in India tenfold.
In the public sector, ElevenLabs signed a memorandum of understanding with the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society to implement voice AI in Kannada for citizen services, skilling, and grievance redressal. The company also committed to a social-impact initiative to restore one million voices for individuals with speech-impairing medical conditions. This move aligns with a broader trend of global AI firms like OpenAI and Anthropic increasing their operations in India.
