Democrats Sweep Countywide Races in Anne Arundel County
Democrats won all countywide offices in Anne Arundel County, though Republicans retained a majority of County Council seats in narrow victories.
Democrats won all countywide races in Anne Arundel County during the November 2026 elections, marking the second time the party has achieved a full sweep since 2022. Allison Pickard secured the County Executive position with nearly 59% of the vote, representing a five-percentage-point increase over the previous Democratic incumbent, Steuart Pittman.
Republicans maintained control of County Council seats in districts 3, 5, and 7, though their margins of victory narrowed. In District 5, incumbent Amanda Fiedler led with 51% of the vote. District 3 saw the most dramatic shift, where Republican incumbent Nathan Volke won roughly 60% of the vote, a significant drop from the 94% he received in 2022.
Two County Council races remain too close to call, including the District 7 contest between Republican Dawn Pulliam and Democrat Spencer Jones. While early returns showed Pulliam with a narrow 51% lead, the result is not yet finalized. The council will welcome at least four new members following these elections.
