Russia and Iran Form Strategic Military Partnership Against U.S.

Russia and Iran established a full-spectrum strategic partnership involving the exchange of drone technology, satellite intelligence, and supersonic missile development to counter U.S. influence.

The Federal Government of Russia and the government of Iran have established a full-spectrum strategic partnership based on shared opposition to the U.S.-led international order. This alliance involves the exchange of military technology and intelligence to support conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

Iran provided Shahed-136 drone designs that Russia mass-produced for its war in Ukraine. In return, Russia provided covert satellite intelligence that enabled Iran to strike U.S. military bases and radar platforms in the Middle East. The United States Department of War reported $3.7 billion in equipment losses resulting from these strikes.

Russia is currently sharing technology to help Iran develop supersonic cruise missiles with ramjet propulsion systems specifically designed to target U.S. warships. Beyond weaponry, the two nations are cooperating on artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the creation of financial networks intended to evade international sanctions.
