Wordsmith AI Raises $70M as Superlegal Launches AI Law Firm for U.S. Construction
Wordsmith AI raised $70 million to scale in-house legal automation, while Superlegal launched the first AI-powered law firm for the U.S. construction industry.
Two legal technology firms announced major expansions on June 3, 2026, targeting the reduction of corporate reliance on traditional hourly-billed legal counsel. Wordsmith AI secured $70 million in Series B funding led by Highland Europe and Index Ventures to scale its platform for in-house legal teams. The company, which serves over 500 clients including Canva and the Financial Times, uses a four-step system to automate routine legal tasks. Wordsmith plans to use the capital to expand its U.S. presence and grow its workforce to 300 employees by the end of 2026.
Simultaneously, Superlegal launched the first AI-powered law firm in the United States, focusing on small and mid-sized construction businesses. Authorized under the Utah Supreme Court's Legal Services Innovation Sandbox, the firm offers commercial contract reviews for as low as $117 with a 24-hour turnaround guarantee. Superlegal has partnered with the Associated General Contractors of America to provide platform access to its members.
While Wordsmith AI focuses on empowering internal corporate legal departments, Superlegal operates as a direct-to-business service provider. Both companies aim to disrupt the traditional law firm model by replacing expensive hourly billing with AI-driven efficiency and fixed-cost structures.
