Micron Secures $32 Billion in AI Memory Agreements

Micron Technology signed 26 multiyear agreements totaling $32 billion to meet surging AI memory demand and expand production facilities in Idaho and Singapore.

Micron Technology has secured 26 multiyear take-or-pay agreements with customers, resulting in $32 billion in financial commitments primarily through cash deposits. These strategic customer agreements cover more than 35% of the company's revenue through 2030, with remaining performance obligations totaling $150 billion. Management expects these contracts to reduce cyclicality and maintain higher minimum pricing and margins as the company positions itself for record revenue growth through 2028.

Driven by the AI buildout, Micron forecasts tighter supply-demand conditions for 2027 and 2028 than for 2026. The company is collaborating with Nvidia Inc. on custom HBM4E and anticipates future demand cycles will be fueled by autonomous vehicles and humanoid robots, which may require up to 20 times the memory of premium smartphones. To support this growth, Micron is developing a fabrication facility in Idaho, with initial wafer output expected in mid-2027, and a NAND facility in Singapore, slated for production in the second half of 2028.

Financially, the company reported fiscal fourth-quarter revenue of $54.23 billion and provided a midpoint guidance of $61.5 billion for fiscal Q1 2027. Micron is poised for aggressive stock buybacks, with a potential major capital return program that may be triggered on December 9.
