Labour Party Holds Holborn and St Pancras Seat

The Labour Party defeated the Green Party in Holborn and St Pancras, prompting Green Party figures to plan a new climate-focused manifesto.

The Labour Party held the seat of Holborn and St Pancras in a recent election, defeating the Green Party by a majority of 3,364 votes. While the result suggests Labour has strengthened its position compared to six months ago, the party remains less popular than it was in 2025.

The Green Party, led by Zack Polanski, suffered a significant loss. Analysts described the party's claims of tripling its vote share as misleading when compared to the combined left-wing vote from two years ago. The defeat is attributed partly to a controversial motion passed at the Green party conference declaring "Zionism is racism," a position endorsed by Polanski.

In response to the party's current state, former leader Caroline Lucas and activist Rupert Read will launch a mini-manifesto titled "Climate Popularism" on October 15. The document advocates for a shift toward crisis resilience and the depolarisation of climate issues.
