Subway to Open 70 New UK Restaurants in Asda Stores

Subway is expanding its partnership with Asda to open 70 new UK restaurants as part of a plan to reach 10,000 locations across EMEA by 2031.

Subway is expanding its partnership with Asda Stores Limited to open up to 70 new restaurants inside the supermarket's United Kingdom locations over the next four years. This agreement will increase the number of Subway sites within Asda by more than 50 percent, following a year in which the portfolio grew to over 120 restaurants.

The UK expansion is a component of a broader strategic goal to double the company's footprint across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa to 10,000 locations by 2031. This target includes markets in India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. To support this growth, Subway has signed six Master Franchise agreements across 14 countries in the last 18 months, including a deal with Emerging Bites for 300 restaurants in Central Europe and a partnership with N Sky Build to enter Azerbaijan.

Starting January 1, 2027, all new and refurbished restaurants in the region will adopt the Blueprint design and operating model. This update introduces new offerings including breakfast, coffee, grab-and-go options, and an evening experience called Subway After Dark.
