Toyota Recalls Thousands of Vehicles in U.S. and Australia
Toyota Motor Corporation is recalling over 6,600 vehicles in the United States and Australia due to defective axle carriers and faulty wiring.
Toyota Motor Corporation issued two separate recalls affecting vehicles in the United States and Australia to address critical safety defects. In the U.S., the company is recalling 5,408 vehicles, including 2026 Toyota Grand Highlander and Lexus TX models. The recall centers on rear axle carriers that may have been manufactured with insufficient material strength, which could cause the carriers to break and lead to a loss of stability or a crash.
Simultaneously, Toyota is recalling 1,199 Tundra pick-up trucks in Australia manufactured between May 1, 2023, and December 19, 2024. These vehicles contain insufficiently insulated wiring in a relay that can trigger a short circuit. This failure can cause brake lights to stop working and prevent the vehicle from restarting. Toyota warned that inoperative stop lights increase the risk of collisions that could result in injury or death.
Toyota will provide free inspections and repairs for affected owners in both regions. The recall notice for the U.S. vehicles was published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
