Israel Accuses Hezbollah of Blatant Ceasefire Violation in Lebanon

The Israel Defense Forces reported that Hezbollah launched an explosive drone at an Israeli engineering vehicle in southern Lebanon, violating a US-sponsored ceasefire agreement.

The Israel Defense Forces reported that Hezbollah violated a US-sponsored ceasefire agreement on Tuesday night by launching an explosive drone at an Israeli engineering vehicle. The attack occurred in the Ali Al-Taher Ridge area within a security zone located approximately 10 kilometers deep inside southern Lebanon. No Israeli soldiers were injured in the incident.

In response, the IDF conducted artillery fire toward the area of the strike and is considering further countermeasures. Military officials stated that while Hezbollah has primarily used drones for intelligence-gathering since the ceasefire, the group is attempting to recover weapons and reconstitute its forces in southern Lebanon to prepare for potential renewed fighting.

The confrontation follows a diplomatic agreement signed last month requiring the Lebanese army to disarm Hezbollah and the Israeli military to withdraw from specific pilot zones. However, tensions remain high as the Lebanese army has condemned ongoing Israeli military activities for preventing its full deployment, while Lebanon continues to report intermittent Israeli strikes and artillery shelling in the south.
