Nvidia Donates $250 Million in Compute to UK AI Safety
Nvidia Inc. committed $250 million in compute resources over five years to advance agentic safety and security research across the United Kingdom.
Nvidia Inc. announced a $250 million compute donation over five years to advance agentic safety and security research in the United Kingdom. The initiative provides $50 million in annual compute access through U.K.-based NVIDIA Cloud Partners to support the domestic research ecosystem.
Resources will be distributed across the wider U.K. AI safety community, with specific allocations for Imperial College London, the Science of Fundamental AI Research Lab (SOFAIR), and the British Open-Ended Learning and Discovery Lab (BOLD). Research will focus on robotics safety, open-model security, and secure agents, utilizing the NVIDIA Sentry reference design and NVIDIA OpenShell tools.
U.K. government officials described the investment as a vote of confidence in the nation's AI expertise, noting that the research objectives align with the U.K.'s G20 presidency. The commitment aims to ensure that AI capabilities and safety advance in tandem as the technology develops.
