S&P Global Weighs Multibillion-Dollar Capital IQ Pro Spinout

S&P Global is considering spinning out its Capital IQ Pro financial research platform in a deal potentially valued in the high single-digit billions.

S&P Global is considering a multibillion-dollar spinout of Capital IQ Pro, a financial research software platform currently housed within its Market Intelligence division. The company is weighing the option of listing the business separately, with a potential valuation estimated in the high single-digit billions of dollars.

This potential move follows a strategy by CEO Martina Cheung to reshape the company's portfolio and sharpen its focus on core businesses. The initiative comes shortly after the July spin-off of the company's automotive intelligence unit into Mobility Global. As a standalone entity, Capital IQ Pro would compete directly with FactSet Research Systems and the data arm of the London Stock Exchange Group.

Investors reacted positively to the reports, driving S&P Global shares up as much as 6.3% from their daily low. Company officials indicate that discussions are in the early stages and may not result in a final transaction.
