Warwood Residents Sue to Block Silicon Foundry Data Center

Warwood residents filed a civil complaint in Ohio County Circuit Court on Wednesday to block the development of the Warwood Data Center. The project, led by Silicon Foundry Energy LLC (also known as Silicon Foundation), intends to repurpose the former Centre Foundry & Machine Co. property in Wheeling. Plaintiffs, represented by attorney J. Anthony Edmond Jr., argue the facility would cause unreasonable interference with property use through noise, pollution, and decreased property values.

The lawsuit also challenges the constitutionality of West Virginia House Bill 2014, a state law regulating high-impact data centers that limits the authority of municipalities over such projects. While Silicon Foundation plans to invest more than $100 million in the brownfield site, company officials have since stated that site limitations prevent the 100-megawatt scale originally proposed.

Attorney David Croft, representing the developer, stated the company will review the claims and respond accordingly.
