The New York Times Launches Times Voter Trends Data Tool
The New York Times released a new data analysis tool to track demographic voting patterns in U.S. House and Senate elections.
The New York Times launched Times Voter Trends, a data analysis tool that provides a detailed portrait of how demographic groups vote in U.S. House and Senate elections. The system estimates voting patterns by age, race, education, and gender across every state.
To ensure accuracy, the publication plans to recontact roughly 30,000 previous Times/Siena poll participants during the final days of the election to monitor late shifts and actual turnout. The statistical model synthesizes data from the Times/Siena poll, precinct-level results, the Needle live model, and voter file data from L2.
The organization released retroactive findings from the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections to establish a baseline for upcoming midterms. This analysis indicated a larger gender gap among young voters and gains for Donald Trump among white voters than traditional exit polls had previously shown.
