Bombardier to Acquire MHI Canada Aerospace Assets

Bombardier Inc. entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of MHI Canada Aerospace (MHICA) in Mississauga, Ontario. The transaction, which is expected to close later in 2026 pending regulatory approvals, will transfer aerostructure manufacturing capabilities and approximately 750 employees to Bombardier.

The acquisition aims to strengthen Bombardier's in-house manufacturing footprint, operational resilience, and supply chain to meet increasing customer demand for its aircraft portfolio. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) will provide transitional support after the closing to maintain operational continuity for the workforce.

While the financial terms of the deal remain confidential, MHI stated it will maintain a presence in Canada through other business activities. Executives from both companies characterized the move as a strategic step for growth and a means of ensuring a bright future for the employees involved.
