Tesla China-Made EV Sales Rise 5 Percent in September
Tesla increased sales of electric vehicles produced in China by 5 percent in September, supported by European registration recovery and targeted consumer discounts.
Tesla increased sales of electric vehicles produced at its Shanghai factory by 5 percent year-on-year in September. According to data from the China Passenger Car Association, deliveries of the Model 3 and Model Y rose to 95,366 units, marking the 11th consecutive month of annual gains. This growth represents an acceleration from the 3.6 percent increase recorded in August.
Third-quarter sales for Shanghai-built EVs grew by 13.7 percent annually, aided by a recovery in European registrations. While global deliveries declined 2.1 percent year-on-year compared to a record third quarter in 2025, the results exceeded forecasts and position the company to return to full-year growth.
To address intense competition within the Chinese market, the company is offering final-payment discounts of up to 7,000 yuan on selected Model Y and Model 3 variants. These incentives remain available through the end of October.
