Match Group Survey Finds 39% of UK Singles Use AI

Match Group reports that 39% of British singles use AI for dating, prompting the company to oppose autonomous bot-to-bot communication.

A survey of 3,000 British singles conducted by Match Group reveals that 39% of respondents have integrated artificial intelligence into their dating lives. Adoption is most prevalent among younger users, with 66% of Gen Z and 53% of millennials utilizing AI tools. These users employ chatbots such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Anthropic's Claude to write profiles, plan dates, practice conversations, and vet messages or photos for potential red flags.

Despite the prevalence of these tools, a significant portion of the population remains skeptical of AI-generated interaction. Approximately one-third of the surveyed UK singles stated they would end a date if they discovered AI had been used to write messages.

Match Group is responding to these trends by taking a hard stance against bot-to-bot dating. Yoel Roth, the company's head of trust and safety, argues that autonomous AI assistants communicating on behalf of users hinders genuine human connection.
