YouTube Partners With Amazon to Integrate Direct Shopping

YouTube partnered with Amazon to allow creators to tag products directly in videos and livestreams as part of a global e-commerce expansion.

YouTube partnered with Amazon.com Inc. to integrate the retailer into YouTube Shopping, enabling creators to tag products directly within videos and livestreams. This collaboration is part of a broader strategic push by Alphabet Inc. to prioritize e-commerce, following the expansion of its affiliate business into markets including India, Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom, Brazil, Mexico, and Argentina.

Between the first quarter of 2024 and the first quarter of 2026, YouTube Shopping's gross merchandise volume grew 13-fold globally. To compete with TikTok Shop, the platform is leveraging its position as the world's second-largest search engine and utilizing Google's Gemini AI to simplify the product tagging process for creators.

Creators earn commissions on sales through these tags, which generate approximately twice the engagement of traditional affiliate links found in video descriptions. Travis Katz, Chief of YouTube Shopping, noted that the partnership combines the world's largest online retailer with the most-used application on the internet.
