Saurav Das Accuses Puducherry Police of Family Intimidation

The co-convenor and chief spokesperson of the Cockroach Janata Party, Saurav Das, alleged that Puducherry Police harassed and intimidated his family members during a visit to his parents' residence. Das claimed the police questioned his family without explanation and described the officers as acting like "goondas." He asserted that the BJP-led government in Puducherry acted at the behest of the Union government to silence his political activities and protests, specifically questioning if the tactic was planned during a recent visit to the region by Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

Puducherry Police denied the allegations, characterizing the visit as a routine security verification exercise ahead of Independence Day. Officials, including senior IPS officer Nithya Radhakrishnan, stated that checks were being conducted at residences and hotels along VIP routes, such as Beach Road, to identify new arrivals and foreign nationals. The police maintained the exercise was not targeted.

Despite the official explanation, Das's mother suggested the questioning was linked to her son's protests in Delhi. Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra also criticized the situation on social media, citing BJP influence over the police. Das stated the incident would not deter him but would instead strengthen his resolve to advocate for a system where police uphold the law.
