Gautam Adani and Mike Bloomberg Discuss Energy and Urbanism

Gautam Adani met with Mike Bloomberg in New Delhi to discuss affordable clean energy, AI, and the climate-resilient redevelopment of Dharavi in Mumbai.

Chairman of the Adani Group Gautam Adani met with Bloomberg co-founder Mike Bloomberg in New Delhi during the eighth Bloomberg New Economy Forum, held from October 13 to 15. The leaders discussed accelerating the global energy transition, the future of artificial intelligence, and the development of resilient urban infrastructure.

Adani argued that the shift to clean energy must remain reliable and affordable for ordinary citizens and small business owners to prevent the transition from collapsing. He noted that while mature markets prioritize the pace of decarbonization, emerging economies in the Global South require baseload power and industrial capacity. Adani further defined nation-building as requiring patient capital, physical execution, transparent governance, and capable local leadership.

The discussion also covered the redevelopment of Dharavi in Mumbai. Adani asserted that the project should be treated as a self-sustaining ecosystem of micro-entrepreneurs rather than a real estate parcel, with success measured by sanitation, protected livelihoods, and climate-resilient housing.

Mike Bloomberg characterized India as a global leader and a primary engine of growth, stating that Indian visionaries have expanded the frontiers of global innovation and economic opportunity for decades.
