Skanska Signs $1.2 Billion US Data Center Contract
Skanska signed a contract to build four data centers in the southeastern United States, marking the largest single data center order in the company's history.
Swedish construction group Skanska signed a contract worth approximately 11.2 billion Swedish crowns, or roughly $1.2 billion, to construct four data centers in the southeastern United States. The project involves building shells and interior fit-outs for technical spaces, support areas, and office functions across 75,000 square meters. Construction is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026 and conclude by the third quarter of 2028.
This represents the largest single data center order the company has ever announced. While the order will be recorded in the third-quarter intake for Skanska USA, the company has not disclosed the identity of the client, the specific states involved, or whether the facilities will be on a single site or multiple campuses.
Chief Executive Anders Danielsson described the company's 21-month work backlog as unusually high. However, Chief Financial Officer Pontus Winqvist cautioned against viewing the record quarter as a long-term trend, stating, "you can’t build a trend on one quarter".
