Qatar and Gulf Allies Condemn Iranian Missile Attacks

Qatar and Saudi Arabia condemned Iranian missile strikes on civilian infrastructure and vital facilities, while Qatari forces intercepted multiple ballistic missiles and drones.

The Government of Qatar and other Gulf nations are confronting a series of Iranian military aggressions targeting civilian and sovereign infrastructure. Between April 7 and April 11, 2026, Qatari armed forces intercepted multiple missile attacks, including a specific strike on April 8 involving seven ballistic missiles and several drones. Qatar filed a 14th formal complaint with the United Nations Security Council, asserting that Iran violated the 1949 Geneva Conventions and UN Resolution 2817 by targeting civilian objects.

Diplomatic efforts to curb the escalation included a phone call between Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the threat to global energy supplies. Simultaneously, Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani urged Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to seek a permanent diplomatic solution to the conflict.

The regional instability extended to Kuwait, where the Government of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Bahrain condemned Iranian-backed attacks on vital facilities and a foiled terrorist plot. Saudi Arabia characterized these strikes as a flagrant breach of international law. In response to the broader conflict involving Israel and Iran, NATO and Gulf partners convened in Ankara to strengthen security cooperation through the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative.
