Stellantis Italy Production Rebounds to 450,000 Vehicles

Stellantis expects to produce 450,000 vehicles in Italy in 2026, reversing a two-year decline that hit a historic low in 2025.

Automaker Stellantis is projected to produce approximately 450,000 vehicles in Italy in 2026, marking a recovery from a two-year decline in output. According to a quarterly report from the FIM Cisl union, the company assembled 340,745 vehicles during the first nine months of the year, representing a 28% increase over the previous year.

This growth was primarily driven by the Fiat Panda, the Jeep Compass SUV, and the hybrid Fiat 500. The rebound follows a significant low point in 2025, when production dropped to just under 380,000 vehicles, the lowest level recorded since 1954.

Despite the overall upward trend, the company has struggled to meet specific targets for the hybrid Fiat 500. Production for the model is expected to reach only 60,000 units this year, missing the initial goal of 100,000 units. The FIM Cisl union attributed this shortfall to weaker-than-expected demand and repeated production stoppages resulting from shortages of engine components.
