U.S. Deports Milo Yiannopoulos After Visa Overstay

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security deported British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos to the United Kingdom on August 29, 2026. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Yiannopoulos on August 28 at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport in Louisiana. Federal officials stated that while Yiannopoulos entered the U.S. legally via New York City in May 2019, he remained in the country beyond his authorized stay.

A federal immigration judge had issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for a scheduled hearing. Yiannopoulos, a former Breitbart News editor and former chief of staff to the rapper Ye, was reportedly in New Orleans for a concert by Ye at the Caesars Superdome. He was held at a detention center in Louisiana, with inquiries directed to the ICE office in Alexandria, before his removal.

Right-wing activist Laura Loomer claimed credit for the arrest, stating she reported Yiannopoulos's immigration status to the DHS and FBI. The deportation is noted for its irony, as Yiannopoulos had been a vocal supporter of the Trump administration's mass deportation campaigns. The DHS used the case to promote a self-deportation program, offering eligible undocumented individuals $3,000 and a free flight to leave voluntarily, warning that those who do not will be arrested and deported without a chance to return.
