Pakistan Extends Airspace Ban on Indian Aircraft to October

The Pakistan Airports Authority extended the ban on Indian aircraft using Pakistani airspace until 4:59 am on October 24, 2026. The restriction, which took effect on September 16, applies to all Indian-registered aircraft, including those owned, operated, or leased by Indian airlines and military flights, across the Karachi and Lahore Flight Information Regions.

This notification is the 17th Notice to Airmen issued to maintain the ban, which began in April 2025. The original restriction followed a terrorist attack in Pahalgam and served as a retaliatory measure after India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and accused Pakistan of involvement in the attack.

Relations between the two nations escalated in May 2025, involving Indian strikes on Pakistani cities and a Pakistani counter-operation called Operation Bunyanum Marsoos. These hostilities ended with a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10, 2025, though the airspace restrictions remain in place.
