China Condemns Western Statement on Joshua Wong Sentencing

The Chinese Embassy in London condemned a joint statement issued by the governments of Britain, the United States, Canada, and Australia regarding the sentencing of activist Joshua Wong Chi-fung. China characterized the collective diplomatic response as interference in the rule of law and the internal affairs of Hong Kong.

An embassy spokesperson asserted that the evidence against Wong for conspiracy to collude with a foreign country or external elements to endanger national security is conclusive. The spokesperson described the judicial process as "lawful, proper and beyond reproach."

In response to the joint statement, China has lodged solemn representations with the British government.
