SpaceX Negotiates for 80,000 Cell Sites to Build Wireless Carrier

Space Exploration Technologies Corp. is negotiating to secure access to at least 80,000 cell sites across the United States to facilitate the creation of a fourth nationwide wireless carrier. The aerospace company is currently in discussions with at least one major cellular infrastructure provider to reach this target.

Among the companies in talks with SpaceX is Crown Castle Inc., which ranks as one of the largest owners of cellular towers in the country. Other major industry players in the tower space include American Tower Corp. and Vertical Bridge Holdings.
