Protesters Storm Mellitah Oil Complex to Demand Dbeibah Resign

Protesters stormed the Mellitah Oil & Gas complex in western Libya on Monday, closing gas lines essential for powering electricity plants. The General Electricity Company warned on Tuesday that the disruption threatens widespread blackouts and a potential total collapse of the national electricity network.

The attack is part of a wider wave of anti-government demonstrations spanning Tripoli, Zawiya, and Misrata. Residents in these cities are protesting chronic, hours-long power outages and demanding improved utility services.

Demonstrators are calling for the resignation of Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah and his Government of Unity. This unrest unfolds against a backdrop of persistent political instability, as Libya remains divided between rival administrations operating in the west and east.
