Nirmala Sitharaman Visits Canada and US to Boost Investment
India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is visiting Canada and the United States to strengthen economic ties and lead the Indian delegation at the G20 meeting.
India's Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is conducting an eight-day official visit to Canada and the United States from August 25 to September 2, 2026. The tour aims to strengthen bilateral economic and financial partnerships and attract foreign investment.
In Toronto, Sitharaman will participate in the inaugural Economic and Financial Dialogue with Canada's Minister of Finance and National Revenue, Francois-Philippe Champagne. This leg of the trip includes an Investment Roundtable focused on critical minerals, artificial intelligence, and energy.
The United States portion of the visit includes stops in Chicago, Asheville, and New York. In Chicago, Sitharaman will engage with the Polsky Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and hold investor roundtables. In Asheville, she will lead the Indian delegation at the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors meeting on August 31 and September 1.
The visit concludes in New York with financial sector meetings and a bell-ringing ceremony at NASDAQ to examine technology-driven financial market platforms.
