Aldi UK Begins Construction on £6 Million Cardigan Store
Aldi UK started building a 2,001-square-metre store on Bath House Road in Cardigan to replace a smaller existing location by Christmas 2026.
Construction has begun on a new Aldi UK store on Bath House Road in Cardigan, representing an investment of over £6 million. The new 2,001-square-metre facility will be more than 50 per cent larger than the current store on Aberystwyth Road. Aldi UK noted that the current site is constrained by its size and limited car park capacity, preventing the company from offering a larger range of products to the community.
The project, which received planning permission from Ceredigion County Council last August, is expected to be completed by Christmas 2026. The new site will provide 82 parking spaces and shared access with a neighboring Home Bargains store. The development is projected to create ten new permanent jobs in addition to temporary employment during the construction phase.
Aldi UK will maintain operations at the Aberystwyth Road location until the new store opens. Following the transition, the company intends to repurpose the former site for alternative use.
