Sinclair Launches The National Press Digital News Service
Sinclair Inc. launched The National Press, a subscription-based digital news service on Substack that aggregates reporting from 1,200 local journalists for a national audience.
Sinclair Inc. launched The National Press on October 6, 2026, a subscription-based digital news service hosted on Substack. The venture aggregates reporting from approximately 1,200 local journalists across more than 60 content centers to provide national reach for local stories.
Developed in partnership with New Media, a digital media company founded by former journalists from The Free Press, the service offers free and paid tiers. Content is distributed via YouTube, podcasts, and social platforms. The service debuts three programs hosted by Lyndsay Keith: a daily morning show, a weekly deep dive called The National Story, and a weekly discussion program called The National Debate.
CEO Chris Ripley identified revenue and subscriber growth as the primary measures of success. He noted that the partnership with New Media is intended to mitigate risks following the previous failure of the company's digital news brand, Circa. Senior Vice President of News Scott Livingston emphasized that the service allows reporting to gain national reach without losing the local knowledge that makes it valuable.
