Google Releases Doodles for Pakistan and India Independence Days
Google published special homepage Doodles to commemorate the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan and the 80th Independence Day of India.
Google released two separate commemorative Doodles on its homepage to mark national independence milestones in South Asia. On August 14, 2026, the company celebrated Pakistan's 79th Independence Day with artwork featuring the national green-and-white flag against a sky-blue backdrop. This tribute continues a decade-long tradition of highlighting Pakistani cultural heritage and notable figures.
On August 15, 2026, the company marked India's 80th Independence Day with a textile-inspired design. The artwork is a modified reissue of a 2023 piece by artist Namrata Kumar, featuring digital textile swatches that represent regional craftsmanship. The design incorporates traditional techniques including Jamdani, Ikat, Ajrakh block prints, Benarasi fabrics, Kani Pashmina, and Kerala's Kasavu tradition to celebrate the work of Indian weavers and dyers.
