Aberdeen Group Sells 5.2% Stake in Standard Life plc

Aberdeen Group plc is selling 52 million shares in Standard Life plc to optimize debt and invest in business growth.

Aberdeen Group plc announced plans to sell 52 million ordinary shares in Standard Life plc, representing approximately 5.2% of the company's issued share capital. The sale is being conducted through an accelerated bookbuilding process with institutional investors, which will leave Aberdeen with a remaining 5.2% stake in the firm.

Aberdeen intends to use the proceeds for capital allocation, specifically for selective business investments and debt optimization. The company expects to redeem 210 million pounds of Additional Tier 1 debt in December 2026. This transaction does not impact Aberdeen's 2026 financial targets for net capital generation and adjusted operating profit.

Despite the reduction in ownership, Aberdeen will continue its strategic relationship established in 2018 as an asset management partner to Standard Life. Chief Executive Officer Jason Windsor stated the transaction is progress toward simplifying the group to achieve the ambition of becoming the leading Wealth and Investments business in the United Kingdom.
