METLEN and Shell Sign Five-Year LNG Supply Deal
METLEN Energy & Metals PLC signed a five-year agreement with Shell Global LNG Limited to deliver six annual LNG cargoes to Greece and Europe starting in 2027.
METLEN Energy & Metals PLC and Shell Global LNG Limited signed a binding five-year liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement on November 2, 2026. Beginning in 2027, Shell will deliver six LNG cargoes annually, totaling approximately 0.6 billion cubic metres per annum. These cargoes will be sourced primarily from Shell's US LNG portfolio and distributed to Greece and other European markets via the Vertical Gas Corridor.
The agreement follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in February 2026. The partnership aims to diversify METLEN's energy sourcing and increase its commercial flexibility in Southeast Europe by combining Shell's global shipping and trading expertise with METLEN's regional presence. This collaboration is intended to support the development of Greece as a regional energy hub.
Panayotis Kanellopoulos, Chief Executive Director International Energy Supply & Trading of METLEN, stated the deal is a step to diversify energy sourcing and strengthen the company's role in the evolving energy landscape. Tom Summers, Executive Vice President for Shell LNG Marketing and Trading, noted that the agreement helps supply customers across the region and expressed interest in future collaboration.
