Qatar and Naoero Establish Formal Diplomatic Relations

The Government of Qatar and the Government of Naoero signed an agreement on September 16, 2026, to establish formal diplomatic relations between the two nations. The signing ceremony took place at the headquarters of the Permanent Mission of the State of Qatar to the United Nations in New York.

Sheikha Alya Ahmed bin Saif Al Thani, Qatar's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Lara Erab Daniel, Naoero's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, signed the document on behalf of their respective governments.

Under the terms of the agreement, both countries committed to strengthening friendship and cooperation based on international law and the United Nations Charter. The agreement specifically emphasizes the promotion of international peace and security, as well as the respect for national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
