Czech Retail Sales Grow 4.3 Percent in August
The Czech Statistical Office reported a 4.3 percent year-on-year increase in retail sales for August, slightly exceeding market expectations.
The Czech Statistical Office reported that retail sales in the Czech Republic, excluding motor vehicles and motorcycles, grew by a calendar-adjusted 4.3 percent year-on-year in August. This figure slightly outperformed the expected increase of 4.2 percent, though it marked a slowdown from the 5.1 percent growth seen in July.
Contributing to the moderation was a 3.2 percent annual decline in automotive fuel sales at specialized stores. However, other sectors showed resilience; non-food item sales growth accelerated from 6.5 percent to 7.4 percent, and food product sales remained stable at 3.0 percent.
On a monthly basis, retail sales increased by 0.2 percent during August.
