BAE Systems Upgrades 2026 Outlook After Higher First-Half Profits

BAE Systems raised its full-year 2026 financial guidance following first-half pretax profits of 1.28 billion pounds and a new 5.9 billion pound UK submarine contract.

The defense contractor BAE Systems upgraded its full-year 2026 guidance across all key financial measures after reporting a first-half pretax profit of 1.28 billion pounds, up from 1.19 billion pounds the previous year. The company now projects underlying earnings per share to increase between 11% and 13% and underlying EBIT to rise between 10% and 12%, an increase from the previous 9% to 11% forecast.

First-half sales rose 9% to 15.8 billion pounds, while revenue reached 14.6 billion pounds. These results exceeded analyst expectations and were driven by expanded munitions production in the United States and increased global defense spending tied to volatility involving Russia and Iran.

Further bolstering its position, BAE Systems secured a 5.9 billion pound contract from the Government of the United Kingdom to support the construction of Dreadnought nuclear deterrent submarines. CEO Charles Woodburn credited the performance to strong operational execution and a healthy order backlog, noting that governments are increasing budgets in response to a highly volatile global threat picture.
