Jordan Summons Iranian Diplomat Over Sovereignty Violations
Jordan summoned the Iranian chargé d'affaires in Amman to demand an immediate end to attacks on the kingdom and provocative statements from Tehran.
The Government of Jordan summoned the Iranian chargé d'affaires in Amman on Sunday to deliver a formal protest against ongoing Iranian attacks on the kingdom. The Jordanian Foreign Ministry described these actions as a flagrant violation of sovereignty and a breach of both international law and the UN Charter.
Ambassador Fouad Majali instructed the diplomat to notify Tehran to immediately halt all attacks and cease provocative statements issued by Iranian official bodies. Majali emphasized that the security of Jordan and its citizens constitutes a red line that cannot be violated.
Jordan further condemned Iranian attacks targeting member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council. The kingdom expressed solidarity with those nations in their efforts to protect their citizens and ensure regional security.
