Wiltshire Council Announces Extensive County-Wide Road and Path Works

Wiltshire Council has launched a comprehensive program of road closures, speed restrictions, and footpath modifications across the county. Authorized under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the works include resurfacing, drainage improvements, and essential utility repairs in locations such as Malmesbury, Royal Wootton Bassett, Devizes, and Hullavington.

Utility providers including Openreach, Thames Water, Wessex Water, and Wales & West Utilities are conducting various operations, ranging from cabling and duct-laying to mains leak repairs. Some closures began on September 28, while others are scheduled for October. A temporary 50mph speed limit is also in effect on sections of the A350 through November 13.

In Castle Combe, the Secretary of State confirmed a public path diversion at Lower Colham Mill, which includes the installation of a new footbridge over the By Brook. Additionally, railway infrastructure managers are conducting bridge inspections and related works in Brinkworth.
