Reform UK Proposes Royal Marines Deployments to Stop Channel Crossings

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage and MP Robert Jenrick proposed using Royal Marines to return migrant boats to France, sparking condemnation from the UK government.

Reform UK MP Robert Jenrick proposed deploying the Royal Marines to the English Channel to intercept migrant boats and return them to France. Speaking to TalkTV, Jenrick stated that soldiers should be permitted to use lethal force if necessary to achieve this goal.

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage later clarified the party's position on LBC, denying that he would authorize the routine use of lethal force against migrants. Farage asserted that force would only be used if military personnel were fired upon and claimed that returning boats to France would stop crossings within two weeks.

Defence Minister Luke Pollard condemned the proposals as disgusting and illegal. Pollard stated that the British armed forces do not take military action or shoot unarmed civilians, characterizing the Reform UK claims as a distraction from the party's internal issues.
