Apple Announces September 9 Event to Unveil iPhone 18

Apple Inc. announced its Surprise and Shine event for Wednesday, September 9, at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. The event will take place at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino and is expected to feature the unveiling of the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside the company's first foldable iPhone, the Apple Watch Ultra 4, and the Apple Watch Series 12.

The iPhone 18 Pro models are anticipated to feature the A20 Pro chipset built on TSMC's 2nm process, larger batteries, and a next-generation C2 modem. Hardware upgrades may include a reduced Dynamic Island size by moving Face ID components under the screen and a variable-aperture primary camera, which may be exclusive to the Pro Max. In India, the Pro Max is expected to start between ₹1,54,900 and ₹1,59,900, while the Pro may start around ₹1,39,900, reflecting price increases due to rising component costs.

Apple is predicted to adjust its typical pre-order schedule due to the September 11 anniversary. Pre-sales for the new iPhones and Apple Watches are expected to open at midnight Pacific Time on Saturday, September 12. The general release of iOS 27 is predicted for Monday, September 14, with the new hardware hitting shelves on Friday, September 18.
