US Factory Orders Rise 1.9% in September
United States factory orders grew 1.9% in September, marking the fastest growth pace in over four years and exceeding economic expectations.
The Federal government of the United States reported that factory orders rose 1.9% month-over-month in September, the fastest pace of growth in more than four years. This result exceeded expectations of a 1.8% increase and marked the third consecutive monthly gain, pushing year-over-year orders up by more than 10%.
Core factory orders experienced a more significant increase of 1.3%, nearly triple the expected 0.5%. This represents the strongest annual growth for core orders since July 2022. The surge was primarily driven by transportation equipment, which grew 4.6%, fueled by a 28.3% spike in non-defense aircraft and parts.
Additional gains in non-durable goods and underlying growth excluding transportation indicate a broad improvement in demand. These trends suggest consistent capital-goods spending as the economy entered the fall season.
