Disney to Transform Disney+ Into Integrated Fan Ecosystem

The Walt Disney Company will integrate games and merchandise into Disney+ by spring 2027 to create a digital centerpiece for fan engagement.

The Walt Disney Company plans to transform Disney+ from a traditional video streaming platform into an integrated fan ecosystem by spring 2027. Josh D'Amaro, Chief Executive Officer, announced that the service will combine games, merchandise, and interactive experiences to serve as the digital centerpiece of fan engagement.

This strategic shift aims to leverage first-party data and franchise intellectual property to increase personalization and reduce subscriber churn. D'Amaro stated that the evolution of the platform is an opportunity that is unique to the company.

The announcement follows strong fiscal third-quarter 2026 results, where revenue rose 7% year-over-year to $25.25 billion and adjusted earnings per share reached $2.06, exceeding Wall Street expectations. While the company's experiences division reported record performance, some industry analysts expressed skepticism regarding a modest 2.5% growth in streaming advertising, citing potential issues with user engagement.
